NFIB Launches Campaign to Protect Missouri Small Businesses from Predatory Trial Attorneys

March 16, 2026

Statewide radio ads begin today urging the legislature to stop abusive lawsuits that target Missouri small businesses’ websites.

JEFFERSON CITY(March 16, 2026)– The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the state’s leading small business advocacy organization, today released new paid radio advertisements urging the Missouri Legislature to put a stop to abusive website-related lawsuits. This comes after small business owners from across the state have received demand letters from predatory trial attorneys, claiming their websites don’t comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and demanding thousands of dollars in settlements.

“It is shameful that predatory trial attorneys are weaponizing the transformative work of the Americans with Disabilities Act against Main Street businesses to make a quick buck,” NFIB State Director Brad Jonessaid. “We’re asking the Legislature to put a stop to this lawsuit abuse.”

Background:

NFIB is championing SB 907, which aims to put a stop to trial attorneys’ attempts to force a settlement without allowing the business an opportunity to resolve the issue.
