Op-ed outlines healthcare legislative actions to address small businesses

Michigan State Director Amanda Fisher recently co-authored an op-ed in Crain’s Detroit Business with Dominick Pallone, Executive Director of Michigan Association of Health Plans, on legislative actions Michigan lawmakers can take to address small business affordability.

They write, “Unlike other states around the country, Michigan policymakers seem stranded in orbit, unable to do anything but point fingers or blame others for the cost of health care. Other states, like New Mexico, Oregon, Minnesota, New York, Maryland, Colorado, Arkansas, Texas, Wyoming, Connecticut, California and Massachusetts, are increasing state income tax credits for health care expenses, funding reinsurance programs to help lower premiums, or expanding the scope of Association Health Plans (AHPs) and Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangements (ICHRAs) for small businesses.”
