NFIB Praises House for Taking Serious Look at Tax Relief

NFIB Praises House for Taking Serious Look at Tax Relief

January 28, 2026

Our members want to ensure lawmakers don't shift more taxes onto the backs of small businesses

NFIB State Director Hunter Loggins says NFIB, the nation’s and Georgia’s leading small business advocacy organization, is closely reviewing the Georgia HOME Act.

“Small business owners support responsible tax relief,” Loggins said. “While state and federal taxes have come down, local government taxes have continued to go up.

“We are very pleased the legislature is making tax relief a priority, but caution that they don’t unintentionally shift more taxes on to the backs of hardworking small businesses,” Loggins said.

“Small businesses are dealing with higher labor costs, insurance premiums and inflation,” he said. “Shifting the tax burden onto businesses would make it harder for them to grow, hire workers or even keep their doors open.

“Tax reform should be fair, balanced and sustainable,” Loggins said. “Lawmakers should ensure that relief for one group does not come at the expense of small business owners who are the backbone of Georgia’s economy.”
