Several Pro-Small Business Measures Advance Out of State Senate

April 4, 2024 Last Edit: June 5, 2025

“These measures will provide more certainty for our small business owners, so they can continue to do what they do best, grow and create jobs.”

JEFFERSON CITY (April 4, 2024) – Missouri small business owners commended the Senate for its passage of several provisions that will make it easier to do business in the state, including the Right to Start Act, Office of Entrepreneurship, and Regulatory Sandbox Act.

Following the Senate’s support for small businesses, NFIB State Director Brad Jones said:

“With the Senate’s passage of these provisions, Missouri has provided greater transparency to Main Street businesses on how state contracts are awarded and how to navigate the regulatory landscape. Better yet, by establishing the Office of Entrepreneurship, small businesses will finally have a one-stop shop for their state-government-related questions. These measures will provide more certainty for our small business owners, so they can continue to do what they do best, grow and create jobs. We thank lawmakers in both the Senate and the House for standing up for small businesses and the hardworking Missourians they employ and look forward to a speedy signature from Governor Parson.”

Background:

Among the provisions within SCS/SBs 894 & 825, Missouri small business owners will benefit from:

The Right to Start Act provides transparency on what type of businesses are awarded state contracts.

The Office of Entrepreneurship gives small businesses a voice in promoting economic development statewide.

The Economic Sandbox will provide regulatory relief for start-up businesses that may need a particular rule suspended or modified until the company is up and running. NFIB Missouri thanks Sen. Travis Fitzwater and Rep. Alex Riley for once again bringing this bill forward.
