Government regulations and bureaucratic processes have long been a roadblock for small businesses across industries. NFIB sent a letter to the U.S. House of Representatives in support of the Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development (SPEED) Act, which has since passed.

If enacted, the legislation would reduce red tape, permitting burdens, and energy costs for small businesses. Reforming the current environmental review processes and removing the red tape that delays and often cancels infrastructure projects would give small businesses much needed access to affordable energy sources.

With national and global energy demands multiplying each year, the need for affordable and accessible energy has never been more important, especially for small businesses who are disproportionally impacted by soaring energy costs. The SPEED Act helps facilitate energy infrastructure, lowers energy costs, and limits bureaucratic red tape to benefit American small businesses.
