Pay Transparency Law Now in Effect

Pay Transparency Law Now in Effect

October 29, 2025

On October 29, the Massachusetts state pay equity laws will now require pay ranges to be listed for all job postings.

The law applies to businesses with 25 or more workers.

The new policy requires affected employers to disclose a reasonable pay range for any job opening posted. The ranges must be included in every posting, for all open positions. This change was part of legislation passed by lawmakers and signed by the Governor in 2024. NFIB voiced our opposition to this policy, arguing it will result in more bureaucratic red tape and added cost for small businesses.

Failure to adhere to the new law will initially result in a warning, but employers could face fines of up to $1,000 for a third offence. For more information please visit the state’s guidance page.
