NFIB’s award recognizes lawmakers for their support of Ohio’s small businesses
The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), Ohio’s leading small business advocacy organization, presented State Senator Theresa Gavarone with the Guardian of Small Business Award, the most prestigious award NFIB gives to lawmakers.
“Senator Gavarone comes from a small business family and knows firsthand the impact legislation has on Main Street,” said Cameron Garczyk, NFIB’s Ohio Assistant State Director. “During her time in the Ohio Legislature, Sen. Gavarone has earned a 100% NFIB Voting Record by prioritizing small business issues. She was a leader in preserving the Business Income Deduction, championed significant ballot reform measures, and has advocated for pro-consumer energy policy. We’re proud to name her a Small Business Guardian today and thank her for her support of Ohio’s small businesses.”
NFIB presented the award at Sen. Gavarone’s NFIB member restaurant business, Mr. Spots in Bowling Green. Sen. Gavarone represents Ohio Senate District 2 and currently serves as the Senate’s Majority Floor Leader.
“This award means a great deal to me because it reflects what matters most—our people, our families, and our communities,” said Senator Theresa Gavarone. “As a small business owner myself, I know the challenges and sacrifices that come with running a business. Small businesses are more than storefronts; they are our neighbors, coaches, and friends. I’ll always be committed to protecting their ability to grow and keep Ohio strong.”

NFIB is a member-driven organization advocating on behalf of small and independent businesses nationwide.
