Oklahoma NFIB Member Chris Vance highlights how the permanency of the Small Business Deduction will benefit Main Street businesses.

In an op-ed for The Oklahoman, NFIB Member Chris Vance shared how the permanency of the Small Business Deduction will allow Main Street businesses to invest in their workers, businesses, and community.

“I’ve been a small business owner for nearly 10 years,” Vance wrote. “It’s been the hardest but most rewarding experience in my life. Now President Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress have delivered a huge victory that will help me grow my business over the next 10 years. They saved me and small businesses in Oklahoma and America from a massive tax hike, so that I can keep investing in my workers and community.”

“Now that the Small Business Deduction is permanent, I can dream even bigger,” Vance continued. “I’m going to keep giving back and investing in my team, my community and my country’s future.”

The Big Beautiful Bill allows me to deduct 20% of my business income every year

I’ve been a small business owner for nearly 10 years. It’s been the hardest but most rewarding experience in my life. Now President Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress have delivered a huge victory that will help me grow my business over the next 10 years. […]

I run a small truck accessories company that specializes in American-made products. But I chose the worst possible time to set up shop. […] Taxes didn’t help. Small businesses face a big burden. It was painful to watch the money I needed go out the door to Washington, D.C.

But then President Trump and Congress stepped up. In 2017, they passed a historic tax cut for small businesses, called the Small Business Deduction. […]

But my tax cut wasn’t permanent. My taxes were going to go back to their original painful level at the end of this year. Thankfully, the Small Business Deduction is permanently in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act the president signed on the Fourth of July.

[…] One of the first things I did with the tax cut was move my business into a better part of town. I couldn’t have done it without the extra money. […]

I’ve also been able to pay my team more. Higher wages help them stick around, instead of getting poached by bigger competitors with more money. I’ve also been able to give them annual bonuses because of the tax cut.

But the most meaningful thing I’ve done with the extra money is give back to Oklahoma City. I love this city. I want it to be the best place in America for the next generation. […]

But now I don’t have to worry about that. Those 20% savings have helped me build the small business I always dreamed about. Now that the Small Business Deduction is permanent, I can dream even bigger. […]

And it’s not just me. […] Studies show that small businesses will now create more than 1.2 million new jobs a year because they have the confidence and cash to grow and give back. […]
