NFIB Indiana End of Summer Update

NFIB Indiana End of Summer Update

August 5, 2025

An update on the state of Indiana’s small businesses

As summer comes to an end and the busy fall months approach, small businesses across Indiana continue to play a vital role in our state and local economies. Here are a few NFIB small business reminders and updates:

Support Small Businesses at the Indiana State Fair & Back to School Shopping
The Indiana State Fair is in full swing and is a wonderful opportunity to visit a variety of small businesses! It’s also back to school season, which means football season is around the corner. When you are out shopping for school supplies or new merchandise repping your favorite team, consider purchasing from a small business.

July Jobs Report
NFIB released its monthly jobs report, which showed 33% (seasonally adjusted) of small business owners reported job openings they could not fill in July. Twenty-one percent of owners cited labor quality as their single most important business problem, the largest monthly increase since August 2022. NFIB Indiana State Director Natalie Robinson said, “The tight labor market continues to impact Indiana’s small business community as owners work to find qualified workers for their open positions. We are thankful that Governor Braun and members of the General Assembly remain committed to strengthening Indiana’s workforce and Main Street.”

Get Involved
Join us at our next NFIB Indiana Leadership Council meeting on September 23 at noon in Pendleton, IN. We’ll hear from Suzanne Jaworowski, Indiana’s new Secretary of Energy and Natural Resources, among other guests, and we will witness the launch of a flying vehicle! Federal Advocacy – Tell Congress to Repeal Invasive BOI Requirements
Although the Indiana General Assembly isn’t in session right now, members of Congress are still considering legislation in Washington, D.C., and NFIB continues to advocate for the repeal of the Beneficial Ownership Reporting Requirements. It’s not too late to take action and let Congress know why they should repeal this invasive small business requirement.
