Have You Asked Your Lawmaker to Support Reforms to ESST & PFML?

March 19, 2024 Last Edit: July 22, 2024

With your feedback, NFIB Minnesota has drafted pro-small business reforms to the deeply flawed Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) and Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) mandates.

While you’re grappling with the onslaught of new mandates from state lawmakers, we’re fighting on your behalf for relief.

Your feedback has allowed us to create new legislation that would reduce the cost and burden of the deeply flawed Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) and Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) mandates.

  • Our ESST proposal would cut the cost in half for many small employers and give you more control over managing time off.
  • Our PFML proposal would make the program voluntary for every employer with fewer than 50 employees, reduce the annual leave weeks from 20 to 12 weeks per year, and permanently cap the cost of the program at 0.7% payroll tax.

If your lawmakers haven’t taken a position on small business mandate relief, make your voice heard! CLICK HERE to tell your lawmakers to SUPPORT small business mandate relief.
