Members Asked to Reach Legislators During Their Brief Recess

April 28, 2025

Bills on the business personal property tax exemption and litigation transparency need final push to passage in the House

While they’re on recess until May 20, NFIB members and other small business owners are urged to make another call or send another email to their representatives asking for their vote on two priority bills awaiting a vote by the entire House upon their return.

One is Senate Bill 1069, which would raise the Business Personal Property Tax exemption to $500,000 per taxpayer starting January 1, 2026. Raising the exemption would reduce record-keeping and compliance costs enormously.

The other small business priority is Senate Bill 1215, which would throw back the curtain to reveal the third-parties that are sponsoring predatory lawsuits.

Both bills have passed the Senate and are awaiting for the House to approve them.
