NFIB Applauds House Passage of Modified Tipped Wages Legislation

February 19, 2025

SB 8 passed the Michigan House

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), Michigan’s leading small business advocacy organization, issued the below statement from NFIB Michigan State Director Amanda Fisher following the passage of SB 8 on tipped wages:

“We are grateful to the House and Senate for the bipartisan compromise to make positive changes for the tipped wage. We eagerly await a similar compromise on ESTA that includes an exemption for small Main Street businesses.”

NFIB has consistently advocated for lawmakers to make changes to the Earned Sick Time Act (ESTA) before the law goes into effect on Feb. 21, 2025.
