NFIB Applauds Legislative Efforts to Ease Tax Burden on Small Businesses

February 19, 2025

Small business members are encouraged that leaders in both chambers continue to seek common ground

NFIB today commended both the Mississippi House and Senate for their ongoing efforts to deliver meaningful tax relief to small businesses across the state.

“While there are big differences between the House and Senate plans, it’s clear that both chambers understand the challenges facing Main Street businesses and share a commitment to easing the financial burden on Mississippi’s taxpayers,” NFIB State Director Leah Long said.

Both chambers have prioritized easing the tax burden on individuals and small businesses, with proposals to lower personal income tax rates, something that would have a big impact on Main Street businesses and their customers.

“While there are still big differences between the House and Senate versions of the budget, our small business members are encouraged that leaders in both chambers continue to seek common ground,” Long said.

“Our members are urging their legislators to continue working toward a solution that provides much-needed financial relief to small business owners and other taxpayers and avoids new fees and taxes that would drive up the cost of living and doing business in Mississippi.”
