NFIB Hails Ruling by Commonwealth Court Against Proposal to Toll PA Bridges

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE   (HARRISBURG, PA) June 30, 2022 – The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the Commonwealth’s leading small business association, today celebrated a ruling by the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court that put a stop to the Wolf Administration’s scheme to toll nine bridges in the state. Greg Moreland, NFIB’s Pennsylvania State Director, made the following statement on behalf of its 13,000 member small-and-independent business owners throughout Pennsylvania: “NFIB is pleased that the Commonwealth Court recognized that the P3 board had overstepped their authority by moving forward with a plan to toll nine bridges. NFIB worked tirelessly along with the ‘No P3 Bridge Tolls Coalition’ to ensure the voices of our members were heard loud and clear, and this decision represents a victory for those that would have been harmed.” Earlier this month, NFIB PA participated in the No P3 Bridge Tolls Coalition rally on the Capitol steps in Harrisburg. The rally included remarks from state legislators, county officials, statewide business organizations, local chambers, and economic development entities who oppose Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s P3 Major Bridge Tolling Initiative. The coalition called on the Wolf Administration and PennDOT to scrap the tolling proposal and work with organizations and stakeholders to find sustainable and equitable long-term solutions to funding Pennsylvania’s infrastructure needs. ### For 78 years, NFIB has been advocating on behalf of America’s small and independent business owners, both in Washington, D.C., and in all 50 state capitals. NFIB is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, and member-driven association. Since its founding in 1943, NFIB has been exclusively dedicated to small and independent businesses and remains so today.
