NFIB Testifies Before Senate Committees on the Negative Economic Impacts of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative

On March 29, Assistant State Director Melissa Morgan testified on a panel before a joint hearing of the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy and Community Recreational and Economic Development  committees on the negative economic impacts of the Regional Greenhous Gas Initiative (RGGI): “NFIB is here to ensure that the Governor and General Assembly do not saddle small, independent business owners with ridiculously high bills, which is what will happen should this take effect in this time of fiscal uncertainty. RGGI will impose extensive costs on the production of energy in Pennsylvania, and these costs will be passed on to ratepayers. Energy cost increases are inherently regressive, impacting lower income individuals and small businesses disproportionately to those with more resources,” said Morgan.
