U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers (3rd District ) was among the leaders who participated in this year’s Virtual Small Business Day.

The online event held on Tuesday, March 29, gave NFIB members from across the state to hear directly from elected officials about the state and federal issues affecting their small businesses.

Representative Rogers briefed owners on a host of federal issues including trade and military issues.

State Rep. Danny Garrett (44th District) updated members about the Alabama Small Business Commission, which is tasked with recommending policies and legislation for small businesses in Alabama. Garrett chairs the panel; NFIB State Director Rosemary Elebash is a past chair.

State Senate Majority Leader Clay Scofield (9th District) joined the virtual event by phone to discuss efforts to extend broadband internet access to rural communities.

Mara Harrison of the Alabama Community College System Innovation Center spoke with members about efforts to improve workforce training in the state.

Elebash said, “This was a great event that allowed our members to learn more about what’s happening in Congress and here in Alabama, and we thank all of our speakers for taking time to join us today.”
