Massachusetts Celebrates Small Business Saturday

While many economists predict holiday sales to remain somewhat flat this year as a result of inflation, it did not put a damper on commemorating Small Business Saturday in Massachusetts. Small Business Saturday is an annual event that celebrates small businesses and urges consumers to shop locally during the kickoff of the holiday shopping season. Falling on the first Saturday after Thanksgiving, Small Business Saturday is the perfect day for consumers to shop local and support the small businesses that are essential to their communities. NFIB encouraged Massachusetts consumers to shop and dine at Main Street small businesses as a way to strengthen local economies and promote job creation. From the shutdowns of the pandemic to the current inflation and labor shortages, it has been a difficult few years for small businesses. Shopping local is now more important than ever. NFIB’s Massachusetts State Director Christopher Carlozzi also had the opportunity to highlight some of the challenges Massachusetts employers face on NECN and NBC’s @Issue news program, following Small Business Saturday. Lawmakers need to remember the importance of small businesses more than just one Saturday in November, but throughout the year when voting on Beacon Hill policies that will impact the state’s employers.
