The move will reduce the cost of doing business in Georgia

Governor Kemp Suspends Fuel Tax Until Oct. 12

Gov. Brian Kemp said today he will suspend Georgia’s gasoline tax from Sept. 13 to Oct. 12: “This is great news for Main Street businesses. The cost of fuel affects the cost of practically everything all along the production and distribution change. The average gas price in Georgia may be well below the record $4.50 a gallon set in the summer of 2022, but it’s still a lot higher than we were paying a year ago, and that leads to higher prices across the board.” According to AAA, the average price of a gallon of regular is $3.57, compared with $3.24 on this day a year ago. “Suspending the 31.2 cents per gallon state tax on gasoline and 35 cents tax on diesel will almost immediately reduce the cost of doing business in Georgia and help small businesses and their customers alike,” Loggins said.
