State Budget Update: On the Governor’s Desk

At the time of writing this update, the 2023-24 state budget was passed by both chambers and on Governor Shapiro’s desk. The budget is a $45 billion plan, which includes $100 million in funding for a school voucher program. Governor Shapiro has indicated that he will sign the budget, but that he will line-item veto the school voucher program. Additionally, even though the budget bill is on the Governor’s desk, the other bills that make up the “budget” are still being negotiated. These bills include the fiscal code, school code, tax code, general appropriations, and others. What will be in these final budget bills remains to be seen, but rest assured, NFIB will continue to advocate for our budget priorities and against policies that would negatively impact small business.
