NFIB State Director Chris Ferruso said today Ohio’s small business owners applaud the state Senate for passing an amendment to House Bill 33. The amendment would eliminate commercial activity tax (CAT) liability for many small businesses. “This is something our small business members have needed for many years,” Ferruso said. “The CAT is essentially a privilege-of-doing-business tax that makes it harder for small, independent businesses to operate in Ohio. “Main Street businesses have a hard enough time keeping the doors open thanks to rising costs and ongoing labor and supply chain issues,” he said. “This amendment to House Bill 33 would ease a lot of financial pressure on small businesses during these trying times. “Our members are hopeful it passes and is signed into law by Governor DeWine as soon as possible.”
