Governor Cooper Signs Pro-Small Business Bill

Gov. Roy Cooper has signed H.346, a pro-small business bill reducing or eliminating burdensome regulations that interfere with owners’ ability to operate their businesses. The measure passed the House on April 27 on a vote of 86-26 and cleared the Senate on May 30 by a margin of 41-5. Governor Cooper signed the bill into law on June 9. NFIB strongly supported the bill and sent lawmakers a letter advising them the measure would be key voted, meaning the vote would be included in the next NFIB Voting Record. In the letter, NFIB State Director Gregg Thompson said H.346 “allows business owners to invest or expand as well as hire more employees by maintaining their insurance coverage without increased premiums. It will allow the state’s largest insurance provider to internally restructure and maintain not-for-profit status while not having an impact on the customer’s health plans, benefits or premiums.”
