Help Stop this Explosion in Lawsuits!

Bill Would Allow New Yorkers to Sue Over “Unfair” Business Practices.

Lawmakers are about to vote on legislation that would further incentivize frivolous lawsuits and dramatically increase general liability insurance rates for small businesses. A bill, S.795/A.7138, introduced in Albany would add ambiguous and subjective terms “unfair” and “abusive” to the General Business Law, which broadens the standing to bring a lawsuit against businesses. This will undoubtedly lead to an even greater number of frivolous lawsuits against small businesses like yours. New York should find ways to reduce frivolous lawsuits – not encourage them.
