Small Business Victory: Upskill Bill is Sent to Governor Parson for Signature

Although local job creators were hoping to see lawmakers depart Jeff City with more victories for small businesses in hand, the legislature did prioritize workforce development this session. HB 417, also known as the Upskill Bill, passed the General Assembly and will now be sent to the Governor’s desk. The bill will help small businesses compete and retain top talent by providing a grant for employees to enhance their training or education. With a recent NFIB survey signaling that labor quality is the top concern for small business owners, Jones applauded the General Assembly for making it easier for Main Street to retain and attract more talent: “NFIB was very pleased to see this bill go to the Governor. In this fast-paced world of innovation and change, this bill will help small businesses keep up with technology and enhance the knowledge of their workforce. This is a great piece of legislation for both the business owners and their employees.”
