Permit Freedom Act Signed into Law After Small Business Owners Call for Greater Procedural Protections

PHOENIX (April 24, 2023) – Upon Governor Katie Hobbs’ signature of the Permit Freedom Act, introduced by Rep. Travis Grantham (R-District 14), NFIB State Director Chad Heinrich issued the following statement: “Not only do permitting and licensing requirements often result in time lost – but money lost too. Time is money, and bureaucratic delays can hamper economic productivity. That’s why so many of our small business owner members took it upon themselves to ask the Legislature and the Governor to advance the Permit Freedom Act, an NFIB key vote. The Permit Freedom Act will protect local job creators from costly delays and restrictions to permits of all kinds – creating more opportunities for hardworking Arizonans. We thank Rep. Grantham for championing the bill in the Legislature and Governor Hobbs for signing the measure into law.”
