More Heat Standards, More Taxes.

Did you miss NFIB's member webinar about proposed Greenhouse Gas Taxes in Montpelier? Here is the recording.

With the legislature pushing VT Senate Bill 5, the not-so-affordable heat act, NFIB recently held a webinar for members to brief them on the maneuvering in the capitol and the pitfalls of this ill-advised bill, which was estimated to cost taxpayers at least $1.2 billion. That price tag equates to about a 70-cents per gallon tax on heating fuels. ALL Vermonters would pay, and NO ONE would be spared from the costs, which means YOU would pay, too. NFIB State Director Shawn Shouldice led an informative discussion, joined by guest speaker Matt Cota, founder of Meadow Hill Consulting, giving members their expert analysis about the dangers of this bill and what small business owners can do to help stop its enactment. Warned Cota: “If S.5 becomes law, it will cost Vermonters more than $2 billion in order to meet the mandates of the Global Warming Solutions Act in just the thermal sector. It will add at least 70-cents to a gallon to heating oil, kerosene and propane, which will be about $500 more that the average business in additional heating costs.”
You can watch the webinar, which was free for all NFIB members, at the link below:
