Gov. Bill Lee Greets NFIB Members at Small Business Day

Small Business Owners gathered in Nashville on Feb. 21 for NFIB’s Small Business Day at the Capitol. The annual event, held at the Cordell Hull State Office Building next to the State Capitol, gave small business owners a chance to learn more about a host of critical issues facing this General Assembly this session, including Gov. Bill Lee’s proposed TN Works Tax Act, a major tax relief program for small businesses that NFIB strongly supports, and substantive reform to the tangible personal property tax. “We’re deeply appreciative of all the leaders who attended this year’s event and engaged with our members on critical issues including much-needed tax relief for small businesses,” NFIB State Director Jim Brown said. “Our members attending also appreciated learning more about Gov. Bill Lee’s plan to improve Tennessee’s highways to accommodate the state’s remarkable growth,” said Brown. NFIB members also walked to the State Capitol to visit with Governor Lee, who said he’s long been a supporter of NFIB. “Thank you, everybody, for what you do,” the governor said. Brown also took the opportunity to present NFIB Small Business Champion awards to Mark Faulkner of Vireo Systems Inc. and Deeannah Seymour of pH-D Feminine Health for their work on Tennessee’s right-to-work amendment and participation in a U.S. Senate briefing on anti-small business practices by large technology companies.
