TAKE ACTION: Oppose Proposed Acceleration of Maryland Minimum Wage Phase-In

Maryland Governor Wes Moore and legislative leaders are lining up support to accelerate the $15 minimum wage phase-in. Under current law, large employers (>14 employees) have until January 1, 2025, to meet a $15 minimum wage. Those with 14 or fewer employees have 18 months more – until July 1, 2026. However, the proposed bill would move those dates up to October 1 of THIS YEAR for ALL employers, regardless of size. Furthermore, this proposed bill ties future increases to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) beginning in 2025. Tying the state’s minimum wage to CPI sets a bad precedent and will raise it year over year without any stop. NFIB urges you to contact your local legislators using your personal story and including your business name in the body of the message to let them know how your business will be affected by this unfair, untimely, and costly minimum wage acceleration.
