Safety training for the 2022 policy year must be completed by June 30, 2023

NFIB Offers Ohio Safety Seminars

If your company is participating in a 2023 Group Rating or Group Retrospective Rating Program and had a claim filed with the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) between July 1, 2020, and September 30, 2021, the BWC requires all Group and Group Retrospective Rating Program participants to complete two hours of safety training if they experienced a workers’ compensation claim during that period. Safety training for the 2022 policy year must be completed by June 30, 2023. This training is still required even if you completed a safety seminar during the 2021 policy year (July 1, 2021 – June 30, 2022) as that training would have applied to a claim made in the prior year. Sedgwick, the third-party administrator for the group sponsored by NFIB in Ohio has previously contacted all companies that are required to take two hours of safety training.  However, we encourage all members to attend if interested. NFIB, in partnership with Sedgwick, invites you to attend safety training sessions on Delivering Effective Health and Safety Training and OSHA’s Top 10 Citations. These seminars will be held at five locations across Ohio: APRIL 4, 2023 BGSU – Levi’s Commons, 1655 N. Wilkerson Way, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551 APRIL 5, 2023 Residence Inn By Marriott, Cincinnati Midtown/Rookwood, 3815 Edwards Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45209 APRIL 6, 2023 Holiday Inn & Suites, 2035 Southgate Parkway, Cambridge, Ohio 43725 APRIL 11, 2023 Hilton Akron/Fairlawn, 3180 W. Market St., Akron, Ohio 44333 APRIL 12, 2023 Sedgwick Auditorium, 5555 Glendon Ct., Dublin, Ohio 43016 Each location will have three options: Option 1: Attend a half-day session (8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) to obtain workers’ compensation and unemployment compensation cost control information/updates and the two-hour safety training. Option 2: Attend a two-hour session (10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) to satisfy the two-hour safety training requirement. Option 3: Attend a two-hour session (1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.) containing the same information as Option 2. Please register by Friday, March 24, 2023.
