Help Us Tell Minnesota’s Small Business Story

As expected, a massive $1 Billion, 24-week paid leave program for nearly all businesses and workers was again proposed at the Minnesota Legislature. You can check out the bill and see a complete list of authors here: 2023 Senate File 2/House File 2.v In the Minnesota Senate, the bill is authored by Sen. Alice Mann (Bloomington), Senate Majority Leader Kari Dziedzic (Minneapolis), and others. In the Minnesota House, the bill is authored by Rep. Ruth Richardson (Inver Grove Heights), House Speaker Melissa Hortman (Brooklyn Park), and others. NFIB strongly opposes this government-run scheme – the program upends the relationship between employer and employee for every small business, permanently raises payroll taxes, and makes the workforce shortage even more challenging. Plus, it comes with added red tape, record-keeping requirements, and potentially major fines. To better tell the small business story, we need your help! This week, NFIB members in Minnesota should receive a seeking information about paid leave benefits. Survey responses are kept confidential and will only be shared in the aggregate, unless permission is given to share your story. If you did not receive the survey or have any questions, please contact Minnesota State Director John Reynolds (john.reynolds@nfib.org, 651-293-1283) or Grassroots Manager Ben Abrahamson (ben.abrahamson@nfib.org).
