The Tennessee office of NFIB, the nation’s leading small business advocacy organization, today presented its coveted Guardian of Small Business award to state Rep. Lowell Russell (District 21, which includes part of Loudon and Monroe counties). “Lowell Russell has been a terrific supporter of small business since becoming a member of the Tennessee House of Representatives in 2019,” NFIB State Director Jim Brown said. “Representative Russell has been supportive of major tax, labor, tort and regulatory reforms that are leading to small businesses hiring and investing, which is bolstering Tennessee’s vibrant economy. His 100 percent NFIB Voting Record in 2023-24 demonstrates his continuing support for small businesses in his district and statewide.” The presentation was made at NFIB member business Greer’s Home Furnishings in Loudon. Russell is chair of the Civil Justice Subcommittee and serves on the Civil Justice, Criminal Justice, Transportation and Ethics committees. The Guardian of Small Business award is the most prestigious honor that NFIB bestows on legislators in recognition of their efforts to support small business. The NFIB Tennessee Leadership Council, an advisory board comprised of NFIB members, voted to present the award to Russell for his outstanding leadership on small business issues. Russell said, “It’s a great honor to be recognized with the NFIB Guardian of Small Business award. I’m passionate about supporting our entrepreneurs and their employees and will continue to fight for sound policies that help them. Our state’s economy only does well if small businesses are growing, which will always be part of my platform.”
