Special Session Cuts Coloradans’ Property Taxes

During a four-day special session at the end of August, lawmakers approved a bipartisan compromise agreement, House Bill 24B-1001, to cut Coloradans’ property taxes. The bill cuts property tax rates and caps annual property tax rate increases, without raiding Coloradans’ Taxpayer Bill of Rights refunds. “Colorado taxpayers need greater predictability in our property tax system,” NFIB State Director Tony Gagliardi said. “This was an important first step in reining in Colorado’s property taxes.” Governor Polis signed the compromise agreement passed by the General Assembly on Wednesday, September 4.
