Small Business Saturday was only the beginning

NFIB State Director Leah Long said today it’s essential that people support small, independent businesses on the last weekend before Christmas and throughout the year.

“The holiday shopping season began with Small Business Saturday, but it’s important to keep that spirit going all season long,” Long said.

“Local businesses are the backbone of our communities,” she said “When you shop small, your money stays in the community, supporting local schools, roads, and essential services.”

Long urged shoppers to visit local stores, eat at family-owned restaurants, and use independent service providers this weekend and whenever possible. “By supporting them throughout the holidays and into the new year, we can help ensure that these businesses can continue to contribute to our communities and make them better places to live and work.”
