NFIB Urges Support for Small Businesses During Holiday Season and Beyond

Small Business Saturday helped start the holiday shopping season, but that was only the beginning

NFIB State Director Ben Homeyer said today that it’s important for consumers to support small, independent businesses during the final weekend before Christmas and throughout the year.

“Small Business Saturday helped mark the start the holiday shopping season, but that was only the beginning,” Homeyer said. “We need to support our communities by shopping at small businesses all year.

“Small business is the backbone of South Carolina’s economy,” he said. “It’s estimated that 67 cents of every dollar spent at a small business stays in the community, money that helps fund our schools, maintain roads, and support essential services.”

“That’s why we need to continue to shop at local stores, eat at local restaurants, and hire independent service providers whenever we can,” Homeyer said. “By supporting Main Street businesses during the holidays and beyond, we can help ensure they support our communities in the year ahead.”
