NFIB Applauds Funds to Help Economic Development

NFIB State Director Rosemary Elebash said small business owners are encouraged by Gov. Kay Ivey’s announcement of $15.5 million in Growing Alabama funding to seven organizations across the state.

“The funds are intended to help communities develop industrial sites, but that can’t help but benefit small businesses, too,” Elebash said. “Small businesses may be hired to help prepare the sites, and small businesses would also benefit from nearby economic development projects.”

The Growing Alabama program offers a tax credit to eligible taxpayers who donate to economic development organizations for approved projects. Alabama taxpayers who contribute to these organizations receive a tax credit equal to the amount they donate.

The communities benefiting from this cycle of Growing Alabama funding are Auburn, Brundidge, Enterprise, Fort Payne, Greene County, Coosa County, and Walker County.
