WATCH: NFIB’s Greg Moreland & Small Business Owner Warren Hudak Appeared on PCN Capitol Preview

NFIB Pennsylvania State Director Greg Moreland appeared on PCN Capitol Preview with NFIB member and small business owner Warren Hudak, President of Hudak & Company, to discuss small businesses priorities following the 2024 general election.

The two discussed the importance of making the Small Business Deduction permanent and why it’s small businesses’ top federal priority. Moreland said, “This was part of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, and it’s set to expire here at the end of 2025, so this is a real concern for our members. You know, nine out of 10 small business owners will be hit with a massive tax increase should they not make this permanent…”

They also discussed Pennsylvania-specific priorities such as the fair share proposed tax plan, permitting issues and delays, and employee classifications.

“Our issues are much different than the big business issues,” Hudak explained. “Some of our most bitter legislative battles aren’t with the other side. I mean, if you are a small business owner, whether you are a republican or democrat, our issues are the same. We’re struggling the same way. So, some of our big business friends, their interests are much different than ours sometimes.”
