The annual event let NFIB members engage with lawmakers on key issues
NFIB and the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina hosted Small Business Day in Raleigh on Tuesday, May 12. The event was at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences Nature Research Center.
NFIB State Director Gregg Thompson said the event gave small business owners the change to learn more about what’s happening in the General Assembly and engage with their legislators about the issues affecting their Main Street businesses.
“Small businesses are the backbone of North Carolina’s economy, and it’s important for lawmakers to hear directly from the people creating jobs and supporting their communities,” Thompson said. “Small Business Day gives our members the chance to have those conversations and explain how decisions made in Raleigh affect businesses back home.”
Speakers include James P. Cain, former U.S. ambassador to Denmark and former president of the Carolina Hurricanes. The agenda also included a legislative panel featuring Sen. and Reps. Mike Schietzelt and Beth Helfrich.
NFIB is a member-driven organization advocating on behalf of small and independent businesses nationwide.
