NFIB State Director Named to N.C. Heat Advisory Council

November 13, 2025

The panel will advise officials on health-related illnesses and injuries in the workplace

Labor Commissioner Luke Farley has appointed NFIB State Director Gregg Thompson to a 14-member panel to advise the Labor Department on heat-related illnesses and injuries in the workforce.

The Heat Stress Safety Advisory Council will serve as a collaborative forum where members from various industries and disciplines can share ideas and make recommendations to improve heat safety standards in North Carolina workplaces.

“This council will bring together a cross-section of experts, employers, and worker representatives to promote best practices,” Farley said in a statement.

The Council’s work will focus on reviewing existing laws, evaluating regulations, and advising on potential policy improvements — all with the goal of protecting workers from preventable injuries and unsafe conditions.
