Governor Hochul launched the Express NY program, aimed at identifying and eliminating outdated regulations and policies in New York. This initiative’s focus is to reduce red tape by removing unnecessary fees for small businesses, digitizing paper-based processes, rescinding unenforced and obsolete regulations, and easing burdensome reporting requirements.

After gathering input from state agencies and businesses throughout New York State, Express NY has introduced its first wave of 50 regulatory reforms affecting 22 state agencies. This includes the repeal of 15 outdated labor regulations, which is projected to save New Yorkers, especially small businesses, up to 1 million hours and millions of dollars in compliance costs and fees.

NFIB will continue to monitor the progress of Express NY as additional reform actions are anticipated later this year.
