Delaware Small Businesses Defend Federal Tax Provisions Ahead of Special Session

November 13, 2025

Governor Meyer called the General Assembly to a special session

Ahead of the Delaware General Assembly’s special session, NFIB State Director Mike O’Halloran issued the following statement:

“Delaware small businesses are apprehensive as lawmakers return to Dover to address the state’s budget and threaten to eliminate beneficial tax provisions that were included in the federal tax legislation passed earlier this summer. Lawmakers are specifically targeting bonus depreciation and the research and development (R&D) write-off, which is a shortsighted and ill-conceived move for the state’s small businesses. Ultimately, Delaware is telling small businesses not to develop here in the First State. We strongly urge the General Assembly to resist these efforts for Main Street.”
