Last week, U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann (District 3) spoke to NFIB leaders from across the state to provide an update on federal activity and legislation.

Fleischmann joined members of the NFIB Tennessee Leadership Council, who had gathered in Chattanooga for their annual in-person meeting. A member of the Committee on Appropriations, the congressman chronicled how the government shutdown took effect and what needs to happen to reopen the government.

NFIB member Garnett Decosimo with Decosimo Corporate Finance in Chattanooga introduced Fleischmann to the group, praising him for his effectiveness, in particular his work to improve America’s waterways infrastructure and investments in new nuclear technologies. Earlier this year, Fleischmann began his second term as chairman of Energy and Water Appropriations.

After his presentation, NFIB State Director Jim Brown provided a general political update to the NFIB leaders and previewed the upcoming legislative session that will begin Tuesday, Jan. 13.
