Calling All Massachusetts Small Business Owners…

May 30, 2025

Can we count on you to join us at the Summit on June 18th?

We ask that you join us at the Massachusetts State House on June 18th for a Small Business Summit. NFIB members and partner organizations will gather on Beacon Hill to learn about pending legislation that impacts your bottom line. We will be joined by regulators and officials who help shape state policy and want to hear directly from you. Then following the program, participants will meet their respective state representatives and senators to voice concerns with UI taxes, energy costs, health insurance expenses, and labor mandates.

A perfect example of why lawmakers need to be educated by employers unfolded last week when a Senate committee chair was confused by an amendment on unemployment insurance during the budget debate remarking:

The $2.1 billion mistake that the Baker administration made misusing ARPA dollars put us in the situation we find ourselves in today. Where employers over the next 10 years could be forced to be paying $2.1 billion back to the federal government.

First, there was no misuse of ARPA money because the state barely used any to shore up the fund, instead they are relying on you to pay it back! Second, repaying the $2.1 billion error is not a matter of “if” but “when” unless lawmakers take action like the state of New York, where $6 billion was pulled from their rainy-day fund to help provide relief for small businesses. Part of why New York elected officials allocated$6 billion for UI was due to small business owners like you visiting legislators’ offices urging them to help during an event much like this Small Business Summit.

Can we count on you to join us at the Summit?

Please take a moment to register and help raise the small business banner on June 18th! Small business owner guests are welcome to join you.
