September 2, 2025

The panel is a direct reponse to the NFIB-banked tort reform measure that passed this spring

The Georgia House of Representatives’ Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Insurance Rates met on Aug. 28 in Atlanta.

Chaired by Rep. Matt Reeves, the group discussed the insurance industry’s rate-setting practices, profit margins, claims processing, and regulatory compliance. Its goal is to ensure that small businesses and consumers are not subjected to unjustified rate hikes.

“This study committee is a direct response to the passage of our tort reform measure, which waswhich was intended to balance our legal system and help stabilize the insurance market in Georgia,” NFIB State Director Hunter Loggins said. “We’ll be following the committee’s work closely to make sure that insurance rates will do begin to decline.”
