Beacon Hill Update

Beacon Hill Update

October 30, 2025

Numerous legislative proposals were heard in committee meetings over the last several weeks.

A flurry of bills were heard in committee hearings over the past few weeks where NFIB chimed in with the small business perspective by:

  • Supporting bills to modernize insurance reimbursement rates for auto repair shops.
  • Opposing legislation introducing new delivery taxes on goods, food, and other items.
  • Opposing Regional Ballot Initiatives that allow municipalities to ballot citizens on transportation projects that would raise sales, payroll, property, or vehicle excise taxes.
  • Supporting proposals to examine the unique Massachusetts merged health market that discriminates against small employers.
  • Opposing legislation that bans natural gas hookups in additional communities.
  • Opposing bills to create a new retirement program mandate for businesses with more than 25 workers and that will expose employers to fines and lawsuits.

As always, NFIB will continue to monitor these proposals as they move through the Beacon Hill legislative process.
