Lawmakers to Resume Work in April

March 20, 2024 Last Edit: July 22, 2024

Finalizing a state budget will be one of the General Assembly's top priorities.

NFIB State Director Chris Ferruso says the General Assembly will return to Columbus in early April to resume work.

“The capital budget will consume most of the agenda as lawmakers decide what local projects receive funding in the form of one-time federal dollars and/or bonding for longer-term initiatives,” Ferruso said.

“We can expect to see movement on a campaign finance bill that restricts foreign involvement in state elections,” he said. “Also, property tax remains a major issue legislators continue to hear from constituents. Most of the discussion has centered on residential, or Class 1, property and how to provide immediate relief to certain subsets of homeowners.”

NFIB provided testimony to the Joint Committee on Property Tax Review and Reform, urging legislators look at commercial, or Class 2, property and longer-term solutions for all.
