Legislation being pushed by banks and credit unions that would hold small business accountable for ID theft over which they have no control was defeated when SB 632 and 633 died in committee at the end of session. While NFIB agrees that identity theft and fraud is a serious issue, we will not support any effort that leaves small business holding the bag for credit card security breaches over which they have little to no control.
