No More Local Interference in Hiring

Date: March 27, 2018

Gov. Rick Snyder has signed NFIB backed Senate Bill 353 into law. From now on, local governments can no longer pass ordinances that prevent employers from asking applicants about their wage history in a job interview or application. The law advances NFIB efforts to halt local government micro-management of small business. NFIB members support action by the Legislature to preempt local governments from setting up their own regulatory program that duplicate or exceed the requirements of an already existing state or federal regulation.
