New law allows choice for medical benefit levels.
Michigan has the highest auto insurance rates in the nation and NFIB has been working to fix Michigan’s costly auto insurance system for decades. Now, NFIB supported Senate Bill 1 is Public Act 21 of 2019. The new law allows drivers a choice for selecting Personal Injury Protection levels instead of a mandatory lifetime unlimited medical benefit. It also reins in out of control costs with medical fee schedules and limits on attorney fees. The passage of Senate Bill 1 will substantially lower the high cost of auto insurance for small business, especially those that have multiple vehicles and large fleets.
