NFIB was the only state-wide business organization to support the “Unlock Michigan” ballot initiative that repealed the Emergency Powers of Governor Act of 1945. This was the law the governor used to shut down businesses and impose restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic. After more than six months of excuses and stalling tactics by the Secretary of State, the ballot initiative was approved and passed by the legislature. The repeal is not subject to a veto by the governor and the Act will be repealed in early 2022.
