A closer look at how state regulations can stifle small business growth.
Small business growth is tied to many factors, but what can
be costly in particular are state regulations. The Pacific Research Institute (PRI)
a report that compares the nation based on the impact of each state’s regulatory environments on the small business economy. Illustrated here is the
overall ranking from PRI’s index as well as four of the index’s 14 components:
workers’ compensation programs, unemployment insurance, land use regulations
and the economic efficiency of state energy regulations.
