NFIB: Temporary Delay is No Fix

Small Businesses Brace for Future Delays & Cost

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 5, 2014 — National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Director of Federal Public Policy Amanda Austin made the following statement in response to the announcement by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) of another delay to Obamacare minimum coverage requirements for some individuals and small businesses:

“For small business owners, yet another delay is bitter sweet,” said Austin. “On one hand it may mean that they can keep their coverage for another two or three years and avoid a massive rate increase. On the other hand, the delay is temporary and doesn’t address the underlying problems associated with Obamacare. Ultimately, it’s hard to plan when rules keep changing in the middle of the game.”
